Anne Smith is an artist and writer based in East Sussex. Her paintings blend the spirit and formality of traditional Persian/Indian miniatures with contemporary visual language. These paintings hold broad space in intimate scale to illuminate core positions of self. Her work comes together slowly, over months, sometimes even years; printed, painted, chopped, scrubbed and rebuilt, allowing fine detailing to converse with bold materiality.
Anne’s memoir, Eighteen Studios, has been shortlisted for the Bridport Memoir Prize.
